This week’s New York State Sportswriters’ Association (NYSSWA) polls include 17 Section V Girls’ Soccer squads across six classifications. Three games over the next four days pit teams from those rankings.
Haverling (No. 1 NYSSWA Class B) dropped its first game of the season on Monday at Livonia (2-1). The Rams don’t get any rest having to face Dansville (No. 18 NYSSWA Class B) on Wednesday and Watkins Glen (No. 8 NYSSWA Class C) on Saturday. St. Bonaventure commit Ella Yartym has 20 goals and 6 assists for the Rams. Keegan Smith, who is committed to play keeper at the University of Arkansas, has 14 goals and 9 assists.
Dansville (7-1-3) opened the week on Monday with a tie against Geneseo (No. 11 NYSSWA Class C). Baylee Hayes has 10 goals and an assist while Megan Tyler has seven tallies and two helpers for the Mustangs who are unbeaten in their past six games (3 wins, 3 ties). Haverling defeated Dansville, 4-1 when the two teams met in mid-September.
Geneseo (9-2-1) travels for a rematch with Keshequa (No. 20 NYSSWA Class C) on Wednesday. The Blue Devils took a 1-nil decision when the Livingston County AA rivals met earlier in September. Nick Drollette’s side is unbeaten in the past four games and the Blue Devils only losses of the season have been to unbeaten Batavia (No. 12 NYSSWA Class A) and Victor (Class AA). Alison Fowler and Maddie Mark have nine goals apiece for Geneseo. Teammate Caroline Capel has made 41 saves and allowed four goals on the campaign.
Keshequa (11-2-0) is 8-1-0 since the aforementioned defeat. Ava Thayer leads the reigning NYS Class D regional champs with 21 goals and 12 assists. Braelyn Isaman has 17 goals and nine assists. Isabella Hugi has 39 saves and five goals allowed on the season.

Aquinas (No. 14 NYSSWA Class A) will host Pittsford Sutherland (No. 5 NYSSWA Class A) for a 7 PM start on Saturday. The Li’l Irish (10-1-1) winners of five straight and unbeaten in the past six will have to hold off unranked Wayne (10-3-0) on Thursday. The Eagles had won nine straight before dropping a 2-1 decision to reigning Class B1 champion, Palmyra-Macedon on Tuesday.
Ninth-grader Sienna Fallone leads Aquinas 18 goals and six assists.
Sutherland (8-1-3) is unbeaten in its past five (4-0-1) including a 3-3 draw with crosstown rival Pittsford Mendon (No. 20-t NYSSWA Class AA). Meghan Joerger has 10 goals and five assists for the Knights.
Seven-time sectional champion Spencerport (12-0-0) comes in at No. 2 NYSSWA Class AA. Lindsay Lenhard, who recently announced her commitment to play at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), leads the Rangers with 13 goals and 15 assists. Cate Burns has made 50 while limiting opponents to one goal for the Rangers. Webster Schroeder (No. 9 NYSSWA AA) has one loss (11-1-0) this season and that was to Spencerport. The Warriors have three players with five or more goals: Leah Marcell (6), Morgan Tara (5) and Sasha Zilist (7) along with Alyssa Doody who has four goals and 12 assists.
Webster Thomas (No. 20-t AA) has won three of four (7-3-0). Sophie Esders has 17 goals and five assists for the Titans while Catherine Rogers has 13 goals and 11 assists. Jaelyn Rodi leads Mendon (7-2-3) with eight goals and three assists. Lillian Larimer has six goals and seven assists for the Vikings while Charlotte Engin contributes five goals and nine assists.
Ella Shamp leads Batavia (10-0-1) with 15 goals and 11 assists. Junior keeper Ava Higgins has made 39 saves while allowing one goal for the Blue Devils.
Sisters Grace and Hope Russell (16 and 43 goals respectively) lead Fillmore (No. 1 NYSSWA Class D). Hope Russell tops all of Section V with 11 assists and 97 points. The Eagles (12-0-0) have outscored opponents 84-2.
Northstar Christian (10-2-0) is No. 10 NYSSWA Class D while Genesee Valley/Belfast (11-2-0) ranks No. 11.
Reigning Class C1 champion Gananda (13-0-0) is No. 4 NYSSWA Class C. The Blue Panthers have outscored opponents, 78-5. Isabella Hoffman paces the offense with 18 goals and 10 assists. Ella Lathrop has 17 goals and 13 assists.
Mia Gray’s 18 goals and 18 assists paces reigning Class C regional champion Byron-Bergen (No. 7 Class C). The Bees two losses (9-2-0) have come to Mercy (Class AA) and Aquinas.
McKenna Ferris has made 27 saves over 574 minutes without surrendering a goal for Canisteo-Greenwood/Jasper-Troupsburg (11-0-1/No. 7 NYSSWA Class B). C-G/J-T has outscored opponents 30-2.
