Danny Mendick (Pittsford Mendon/Monroe CC) connected on a three-run home run, finished 2-for-4 at the plate and scored two runs as the host New York Mets defeated the Chicago Cubs, 11-2 Monday night.
Mendick’s home run, his first at the MLB level this season and 11th of his career, came with two outs in the seventh inning and gave the Mets a 10-2 lead at that point of the game.
Mendick also singled and scored in a two-run sixth inning, Monday night.
A little over a year ago, Danny Mendick tore his ACL and endured a months-long rehab process.
Tonight, he just hit his first home run back up in Major Leagues.

The multi-hit effort was the third in seven games since July 30th for Mendick who was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse on July 22nd.
The three RBI marks the highest in an MLB contest for the former UMass-Lowell Riverhawk since driving in five on May 17th, 2021.
His most recent round-tripper before Monday came last June 15th – then as a member of the Chicago White Sox. That was part of a stretch that ended seven days later in which Mendick collected at least one hit in nine straight and 11 of 12 games. He was placed on the disabled list with a torn ACL on June 23rd and missed the remainder of the 2022 season.
Mendick has played 168 games at the MLB level over the past five seasons – the first four with the White Sox.
