The Rochester Red Wings dropped their series finale against the Norfolk Tides on Sunday, falling 17-7.
Norfolk never trailed on the day, jumping to a 2-0 lead in the second on a Kyle Stowers home run in the first and adding another later that inning on a sacrifice fly. The Tides would lead by as much as 17-0 in the bottom of the fourth, including a grand slam by designated hitter Josh Lester in the third.

The Red Wings broke the shutout in the top of the fifth with a three-run home run by second baseman Jake Alu, his first of the year. Rochester ultimately scored seven unanswered runs from the fifth inning onward, but it wasn’t enough to make up the deficit.
Center fielder Derek Hill led the Wings at the plate on the day, going 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Rochester went 1-5 on the trip to the Baltimore Orioles’ AAA affiliate, winning only Wednesday’s game, 5-0.
The Red Wings return home on Tuesday to begin a series with the St. Paul Saints (AAA Twins). Joan Adon is scheduled to start, with first pitch scheduled for 6:05 P.M.
