Fusion Digital Friday Baseball Wrap: Ciaramitaro paces McQuaid offense

McQUAID JESUIT (2-0)

Luca Ciaramitaro finished 2-for-4 including an RBI single in the fourth inning when McQuaid scored three times to take a lead it did not surrender. Tied at two, Sam Stone reached on a dropped third strike to lead the fourth. Roger Friedlander followed with a single, and Kevin Nagel was hit by a pitch to load the bases. A passed ball started the scoring in the stanza before Ciaramitaro drove in a run. Friedlander went 3-for-4 with with two RBI and a run scored. Nagel scored two runs. Connor Forkey singled and drove in a run. Thomas Bailey singled, walked and scored. Ian Fleck walked and scored. Nick Boev walked twice and scored twice. Jack Zaso drove in a run with a base hit. Brennan Garlock started and struck out five over four innings of work to pick up the win. Preston Foryt hurled 2.2 innings to notch his second save of the season. The game was played at Dodger Town in Vero Beach, Florida.

THURSDAY’S RESULTS

EDISON TECH (0-1) 0
EAST (1-0) 10 five innings

Miguel Matos, Yoelvis Cabrera and Pedro Garica combined for 10 strike outs and a no-hitter to lead East. Garcia was 3-for-3 with a run scored while Mitchell Nieves had two hits in three at-bats with a run scored. Cabrera drove in a run with a single and also came around to score. Justus Robinson singled, stole a base, scored twice and drove in another. Emille Diaz walked twice, reached base all three times he came to the plate and scored a run.

IC CATHOLIC PREP 2
McQUAID JESUIT (1-0) 7

Ian Fleck doubled twice and went 3-for-4 with three RBI to lead McQuaid which erased an early deficit to win its season opener. Connor Forkey was 2-for-3 with two doubles of his own and a run scored. Luca Ciaramitaro went 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBI and a run scored. Roger Friedlander singled, walked and scored run while Kevin Nagel was 1-for-2 and also crossed the plate. Matt Wilmarth struck out 10 over 5.2 innings to pick up the win. The junior right-hander allowed two unearned runs on three hits and a walk. Preston Foryt worked a scoreless inning and a third to register the save. Catholic Prep took advantage of an error in the first inning to scored twice in the first inning.

CHURCHVILLE-CHILI (2-0) 23
GREECE OLYMPIA/ODYSSEY (0-1) 5

Cooper Romich tripled, homered, drove in six runs and scored four more to pace Churchville-Chili. Michael Sardou was 2-for-3 with two walks, four RBI and two runs scored. Anthony Shortino had two hits including a double,with two walks, three RBI and two runs scored. Braedon Reina was 2-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored. Josh Campbell singled, walked, scored three runs and drove in two others. Jaylen Lopez was 2-for-3 with two walks, three runs scored and an RBI. Dom Morsch had a single, two RBI and a run scored while Parker Farnham finished 2-for-3 with a walk, RBI and two runs scored. Evan Putney started and struck out over four over three innings of work to pick up the win. Cater D’Ovidio and Drew Stewart threw a scoreless inning of relief apiece. Olympia/Odyssey’s Alexander Frisone was 3-for-3 with a walk, RBI and run scored. Ty Van Epps, Angelo Ubal and Tyler Ashton had two hits apiece. Christopher Coriano walked twice and scored a run. James Schlueter walked and came home.
