DAYTON, Ohio – Saint Louis fell 70-56 at Dayton in Atlantic 10 Conference men’s basketball action on Friday night at UD Arena.
The Billikens dip to 16-9 overall and 8-4 in the A-10, while Dayton improves to 17-9 and 9-4 in the league.
Javonte Perkins led the Billikens with 17 points, which included a 3-of-5 performance from 3-point range. Gibson Jimerson (11 points) and Yuri Collins (10 points) also scored in double figures for the Bills. Collins added six assists.
SLU shot 37.7 percent from the field, a season-low in A-10 games. The Billikens’ 56 points were also a season-low in the A-10 schedule.
The game got off to a quick start, with SLU starting off with consecutive treys from Gibson Jimerson to go up 6-0 early on. But Dayton quickly responded with an 8-0 run. Both teams were on fire early on and it was a two-point game at 23-21 midway through the first half.
The Flyers then utilized a 9-0 run and didn’t lose the lead the rest of the half. UD took a 41-34 lead into halftime.
SLU got off to a slow start to start the second half and was never able to string together a substantial run. The Bills shot just 24 percent (6-25) in the second session as Dayton posted the 14-point win.
The Billikens open a two-game homestand on Wednesday night at Chaifetz Arena when they play host to Davidson. Game time is 8 p.m. CT on CBS Sports Network.
