Ryan Deuel helped Pittsford Mendon to the championship of the American Cancer Society Holiday Classic. Adareus Smith nabbed MVP honors in pacing Rush-Henrietta to its holiday tournament title. Spencerport’s Bryon Streb posted back-to-back double-doubles, and Carter McFollins was named MVP as Batavia claimed the Lions Club tournament championship. The quartet earned Player of the Week (December 26th-31st) for their respective divisions as announced by Monroe County coaches.
Smith was named Monroe County Division I Player of the Week (POTW) after he averaged a double-double as the Royal Comets claimed their Rush-Henrietta Holiday Tournament. The 6-foot-2 senior forward scored 16 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the floor and 2-of-2 from the free throw line in an 80-63 victory over Wilson in the opening round of the tournament. He also finished with eight rebounds, two assists, two steals and three steals in the win. One day later, Smith hauled in 14 rebounds and scored 12 points in a 60-57 win over Pittsford Sutherland. Smith connected on 4-of-6 shots from the floor and all four of his attempts from the free throw line. He also had three assists and two blocks in the tournament championship game.

Streb averaged 16.5 points and 14 rebounds to garner Division II POTW. The 6-foot-4 senior forward/guard collected 20 points and 13 rebounds in the Rangers’ opening round matchup with Churchville-Chili in the Doug Westcott Memorial. He shot 6-of-13 in the game. One day later, Streb scored 13 points and corralled 15 rebounds while handing out four assists in a 59-51 win over Eastridge.

Deuel finished with 24 points, four rebounds and four assists to pace Mendon to an opening round win over Fairport and earn DIII POTW. The junior guard connected on 8-of-14 attempts from the floor for the contest including 6-of-9 inside the 3-point arc. He also converted 6-of-8 free throws as the Vikings advanced to the American Cancer Society Holiday Classic championship.

McFollins was named Monroe County Division IV Player of the Week. The senior guard finished two points shy of a triple-double in a 77-41 win over Royalton-Hartland (VI). He handed out 10 assists and grabbed eight rebounds in the win and scored eight points on 4-of-7 shooting. McFollins poured in 20 points the following night in a 51-41 win over Le Roy as the Blue Devils clinched the Lions Tournament title. He also had five assists and six rebounds in the championship game.
