NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – For the second time this season, St. Bonaventure men’s basketball freshman Yann Farell has been named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week.
In a pair of games last week, Farell averaged 12.0 points and 5.5 rebounds and shot over 53 percent from the floor. He scored double figures in two road games at Siena and at Northern Iowa, posting 13 points and three rebounds at Siena before totaling 11 points and eight boards in just 21 minutes at UNI.
Farell also went 6-for-12 from beyond the three-point line during the week as well.
For the season, Farell is averaging 9.4 points and 7.5 rebounds in over 29 minutes per contest. He leads all A-10 freshmen in rebounding and stands sixth overall among all conference players on the boards.
The Libreville, Gabon native becomes the first Bonnies men’s basketball player to be named A-10 Rookie of the Week multiple times in a season since Kyle Lofton was selected twice in 2019.
The Bonnies open Atlantic 10 play by hosting UMass Saturday, Dec. 31 at the Reilly Center. Tip time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
