ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT junior guard Emma Waite scored 19 points to lead the Tigers to a 73-62 win over RPI, Saturday.
Graduate student forward Andreja Peciuraite tallied 18 points, sophomore guard Kaitlyn Bockelman scored 13 points and first-year guard Abigail Smith finished with 10 points.
RIT outscored Rensselaer 19-16 in the second quarter to lead 29-28 at halftime.
First-year guard Ansley Orrell tied the score at 19-19 on her three-pointer late in the second quarter.
The Tigers outscored RPI over the final 4:08 of the half to lead by one at the break.
Graduate student forward Andreja Peciuraite scored 10 points off the bench to pace the Tigers.
RPI outscored the Tigers 16-11 in the third quarter.
Erin DiPaola tied the score at 52-52 on her layup with 4:52 remaining in regulation.
A pair of Waite free throws with 1:24 gave the Tigers a 10-point lead.
The Tigers converted their free throws in the closing minutes to secure the win.
RIT shot 42.9 percent from the floor on 24-of-56 shooting.
The Tigers outrebounded the Engineers 45-36.
