NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference has named George Washington graduate student Brandan Adams and St. Bonaventure sophomore Chad Venning its Men’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week. Davidson freshman Reed Bailey was chosen as the league’s Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced Monday and are for games played Nov. 22-27.
Adams posted a pair of 20-point games for GW, averaging 22.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game. The guard from Baltimore shot 61 percent (17-of-28) from the field, and was a perfect 8-for-8 at the line, while playing 75 of a possible 80 minutes. Adams secured his first 20-point game of the season on Tuesday vs. UC San Diego, hitting 7-of-13 (.538) from the floor with two assists and two steals. He then notched a career-high on Saturday versus New Hampshire, shooting 10-of-15 (..667) from the field in a 25-point effort. He also added seven boards and dished out three assists while hitting all four free throws.
Venning averaged 17.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and, 1.0 assists in pair of wins this week while shooting 59 percent from the floor (16-for-27). The center from Brooklyn, N.Y., was named Gotham Classic MVP after scoring first career double-double with 14 points, 11 rebounds in a victory over Notre Dame Friday while going 7-12 (.583) from the floor and adding two blocks and a steal. He had a career-high 21 points with seven rebounds and three blocks in a Tuesday win over Southern Indiana.
In Davidson’s lone game of the week, an 89-80 win over San Francisco, Reed Bailey scored a season-high 20 points on 7-of-11 (.636) shooting. The forward from Harvard, Mass., also drilled a 3-pointer with 4:51 to play that put the Wildcats up for good. In addition, he finished 5-of-5 from the charity stripe and grabbed a pair of rebounds in 32 minutes.

Davidson’s Foster Loyer scored 30 points and dished out seven assists in the Wildcats’ win over San Francisco … DaRon Holmes II averaged 15.7 points and 6.3 rebounds and four total blocks in the Battle4Atlantis for Dayton … UD freshman Mike Sharavjamts scored 15 points, including hitting a trio of threes versus BYU … Duquesne’s Dae Dae Grant helped propel Duquesne to a pair of wins, averaging 24.5 points and 3.0 assists while shooting 54.8 percent from the field … Duquesne freshman David Dixon tallied 14 points and seven rebounds in the Dukes’ win over North Florida, and also had five blocks versus Alabama State … Fordham’s Abdou Tsimbila recorded a 16-point, 15 rebound double-double in the Rams’ win over Harvard, shooting 83.3 percent (5-of-6) from the field … Khalil Brantley had 15 points, four rebounds and three assists in La Salle’s victory against Binghamton … Tyler Burton recorded a 13-point, 15-rebound double-double for Richmond against Syracuse, followed by 18 points versus Temple … Richmond freshman Jason Nelson averaged 13.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists against Syracuse and Temple … St. Bonaventure freshman Yann Farell averaged 12 points and 10.5 rebounds, including an 11-point, 14-rebound double-double in the Bonnies’ win over Notre Dame … Yuri Collins had 10 points and nine assists at Auburn, which followed a 15-assists game earlier in the week as a 12 assists per game average for the Billikens.
