NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Saint Louis junior Yuri Collins its Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. St. Bonaventure freshman Yann Farell was chosen as the league’s Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced Monday and are for games played Nov. 14-21.
Collins led the Billikens to a 2-1 week against impressive opponents with 18.3 points and 7.3 assists per game. The guard from St. Louis was named to the All-Tournament Team of the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament at Mohegan Sun. He shot 47.1 percent (16-for-34) from the field and 87.5 percent (21-of-24) from the free-throw line. Collins began the week by dishing out nine assists and scoring a team-high 22 points in the win against Memphis. He also led the team in scoring against Providence, scoring 21 points on 9-of-13 shooting in the comeback win against the Friars. Collins leads the NCAA in total assists and assists per game.
Farell averaged 15.0 points and 9.0 rebounds in 33 minutes per game in two game last week. The forward from Libreville, Gabon, tallied his first career double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds, adding two assists and a block versus defending Summit League champion South Dakota State Tuesday. He then posted 14 points and seven rebounds in a Saturday win over Bowling Green. He also added two blocks and shot 11-for-23 (.478) from the floor and 40 percent (8-of-20) from 3-point range against the Falcons.

Davidson’s Sam Mennenga averaged 19.0 points on 22-of-39 (.564) shooting while grabbing 7.0 rebounds per game in a 2-1 week for the Wildcats …DaRon Holmes II tallied 18 points on 7-of-9 from the field (.778), collected six rebounds and dished out four assists in Dayton’s win over Robert Morris … UD freshman Mike Sharavjamts buried four triples on the way to a 14-point, four rebounds performance at UNLV … Duquesne’s Dae Dae Grant was stellar in shooting last week, hitting 11-of-22 (.500) from the field, 8-for-13 (.615) from three and was a perfect 8-of-8 at the line to average 19.0 points in two wins …James Bishop tied the ninth best scoring game in A-10 history with 44 points versus Hofstra, hitting 15 field goals, five threes and was 9-of-10 (.900) at the line …Philip Alston was a consistent presence for Loyola-Chicago, averaging 15.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.0 blocks in three games at the Myrtle Beach Invitational
…Noah Fernandes was stellar in leading UMass to the Myrtle Beach Invitational title, earning MVP honors, including drilling a 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift the Minutemen past Murray State in the semifinals … Rhode Island’s Ishmael Legget had 18 points, nine rebounds and five assists in a victory over Stony Brook … Rhody freshman Louis Hutchinson scored 15 points on 6-of-8 (.750) shooting from the field, including two made threes in the win over the Seawolves … St. Bonaventure’s Daryl Banks III scored 34 points in a win over Bowling Green, shooting .625 (10-for-16) from the field with an eye-popping 7-of-11 (.636) from 3-point distance … Saint Joseph’s Erik Reynolds II was outstanding in leading the Hawks to a pair of wins, scoring 21 with four assists against Lafayette and 32 with three assists versus Albany while shooting .607 (17-for-28) from the field for the week, including 10 made triples.
