One team is looking to reach regionals for the ninth time in program history. The other is trying for a first. Wayne County meets Livingston County Athletic Association, Wednesday with a spot in the New York State Class C Far West Regional up for grabs. Here’s what you need to know:
Class C1 champion AVON BRAVES (19-0-0/Livingston County Division II) vs. Class C2 champion RED CREEK RAMS (16-3-0/Wayne County)
How they arrived here: Avon opened the postseason with wins over No. 9 seed Canisteo-Greenwood and No. 5 seed Geneseo before beating No. 6 Williamson to claim the program’s first sectional title. Red Creek started with a 3-1 win over No. 9 seed Wheatland-Chili before defeating No. 4 seed Marion, 4-1 in the semifinals and No. 3 Bolivar-Richburg, 1-0 for the 24th sectional title in program history.
