Keegan Smith connected on a pair of goals while Ella Yartym had a goal and an assist as Haverling won its third straight sectional title. Breeann Walruth and Gaia Stefanoni both had an assist in the win. Lola Coots made fives for the win. Haverling will face B1 champ Palmyra-Macedon in the NYS Far West Regional qualifier.

Nicole Cruz had to make a change in uniform number for Friday night when she realized that her usual garment was in another city. The change in attire didn’t affect the Gananda junior’s scoring touch. Cruz scored twice and younger sister, Aly added another goal as top-seeded Gananda claimed the 2022 Section V Girls’ Class C1 championship. READ MORE.

Mia Gray finished with a goal and an assist as Byron-Bergen won its second straight sectional title. Gray scored on an unassisted effort in the first half and then set up Elizabeth Starowitz four minutes into the second half for the Bees’ second tally of the game. Novalee Pocock made fives for the shutout – her fourth clean sheet of the postseason and 18th overall. The championship was the fifth in program. Byron-Bergen will square off with C1 champ Gananda for a spot in the New York State Far West Regional qualifier.

Abby Herbst netted a pair of goals, and Megan Fry posted her third straight shutout of the postseason as Webster Schroeder won its third sectional title in program history. Herbst scored twice in the first half, and Alyssa Doody also added a goal in the opening 40 minutes for all the offense the Warriors needed. Doody assisted on Herbst’s first goal of the game. Sasha Zilist set up Doody’s goal. Fry stopped seven shots. The senior keeper has 15 clean sheets on the season. Hilton beat Schroeder, 1-0 when the two teams met during the regular season. Schroeder will face either Clarence or Lancaster in the New York State Far West Regional.

Ava Thayer’s golden goal 13 minutes into the first overtime lifted Keshequa to its first sectional title since 2014 and seventh overall. Julia Wilkins set up the game winner. Libby Benner scored on an unassisted effort to give Keshequa a 1-nil lead in the 66th minute. Hannah Southwick-Powers responded three minutes later for Genesee Valley/Belfast. Mary Hamer assisted on the play. Isabella Hugi made seven saves in the win. Keshequa will face Class D2 champion Northstar Christian in the NYS Far West Regional Qualifier.
CLASS D2

No. 1 NORTHSTAR CHRISTIAN (17-1-1) 2 (OT)
Ava Thomas-Guzman connected on a golden goal seven minutes into the first overtime, and Northstar Christian won its third sectional title in program history. Grace Kearney picked up an assist on the championship-clinching play. Katelyn Demarest scored what appeared to be the game winner in the 78th minute, but Finney’s Ava Lombardo found the back of the net less than a minute later to send the game into overtime. Lydia Demarest assisted on the goal from Katelyn Demarest. Amelia McIntyre had an assist for Finney. Alisha Demarest made six saves in the win. Northstar will face Class D1 champion Keshequa in the state qualifier on Tuesday.
