PITTSFORD MENDON (1-2) 16
Dan Mariani started and struck out six over five innings while four players collected two hits apiece to lead Mendon. Mariani retired nine of the first 11 batters he faced and limited Spencerport to three hits and one walks. Noah Lerner-Morell and Ryan Downing both hurled a scoreless inning of relief. Downing struck out the side in the seventh. Cameron Blauvelt, Carter Grinnell, Brendan Kane and Dan Palumbo each collected two hits in the win. Grinnell finished 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored. Kane was 2-for-5 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored. Blauvelt went 2-for-3 with two walks, an RBI and three runs scored. Palumbo had two hits in four at-bats with a walk, two RBI and two runs scored. Zach Young also doubled, drove in a run and scored once. Eric Krowl singled, walked and scored twice. Spencerport’s Shaun Cannon went 2-for-3 with a double. Zachary Hueber, Brady John, Kyle Milburn and Josh Winter each had a hit for the Rangers. The win was the 100th career victory for Mendon head coach Jeff Amoroso.

BRIGHTON (1-3) 6
GATES CHILI (0-5) 4
Ben Comeau’s first-pitch, two-run double snapped a four-all tie as Brighton sent nine to the plate to erase a two-run deficit in its final at-bat. Ellis Einbinder led the Bruins’ offense going 3-for-3 at the plate. AJ Marcella had two hits in the win. Andrew Cranston started and struck out three over four innings of work for the Bruins. Gates Chili’s Charles Healey finished 3-for-3 with a double, a walk and two RBI. Vincent Lucyszyn was 2-for-3 with two run scored. Regan Clancy and Angelo Morales had an RBI apiece for the Spartans.

GREECE ARCADIA (0-4) 2
GREECE ATHENA (5-0) 12 
Evan Smith started and struck out four over five innings of work to register the win. The senior hurler retired nine straight from the end of the first into fourth and limited Arcadia to three hits and two walks. Jayden Rapp finished 2-for-3 at the plate including a two-out, two-run single in the third when Athena sent 11 to the plate and erased a deficit to take a 6-2 lead. Trailing 2-1, Rapp brought home Connor Osier and TJ Kurtz on the play. Smith followed with an RBI single, and Riley Catena capped the inning with a base hit that drove in two more. Rapp collected three RBI and two runs scored in the game. Smith was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Catena went 2-for-4. Sammy Saucke had two hits in three at-bats with four stolen bases and a run scored. Jaden Madrid was 1-for-3 with two walks, a stolen base and a run scored. Kurtz contributed an RBI and two runs scored. Athena stole nine bases. Ryan Nettnin struck out three over two hitless innings of relief. Arcadia’s Parker Drees doubled, drove in a run and scored another. Dom Zona scored the other Titan run. Jacob Tsymbal also doubled for Arcadia.

GREECE ODYSSEY/OLYMPIA (3-4) 4
CHURCHVILLE-CHILI (4-1) 8
Justin Meister struck out three over four innings of work and allowed two runs six hits to register the win as Churchville rebounded from its first loss of the season. After allowing a leadoff hit to start the game, Meister retired the next six. The junior limited the damage in the third and fourth innings when Odyssey/Olympia put the first two aboard in both frames. Churchville sent 10 to the plate and took advantage of three errors to score six runs in the first inning. Braedon Reina finished 1-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored for the Saints. Zach Miner singled and scored. Cooper Romich walked twice and scored a run. Evan Putney collected a walk, RBI and a run scored. Michael Sardou, Robert Kennedy and Josh Campbell each scored a run for C-C. James Schlueter finished 2-for-4 with two RBI to lead Odyssey/Olympia. Ty VanEpps doubled, walked, drove in a run and scored on two occasions for the Griffins. Josh Tantalo also doubled and cross home. Churchville lost to Webster Schroder, 7-6 in its previous outing.

WEBSTER THOMAS (3-2) 8
IRONDEQUOIT (2-2) 4
With starting shortstop Josh Butka limited to a designated hitter thus far this season, Kevin Neenan needed to adjust his lineup. The ninth-year Webster Thomas head coach moved usual third baseman, Garett Wilson, to the middle infield spot and inserted Adam Zlotkus at the hot corner.  When the Titans return to full strength, Neenan will have — as the saying goes — a good problem. Zlotkus connected on a pair of run-scoring doubles and delivered a pivotal play with the glove as Webster Thomas rallied to beat host Irondequoit. READ MORE.

FAIRPORT (2-2) 8
PENFIELD (3-1) 9 (five innings)
Aiden Cook finished 2-for-3 with two RBI on the night including a walk-off double to cap a six-run frame as Penfield won its third straight game. Chase Playfair went 1-for-1 at the plate with a double and struck out six over three innings of relief to pick up the win. Eight different players crossed home for the Patriots. Fairport’s Connor Sackett doubled, walked twice and drove in three runs. James Stanek doubled twice and scored twice for the Red Raiders. Will Stanek and Julien Mendoza both drove in a pair of runs and scored one apiece. Blake Bucenec was 2-for-2 with a walk, two runs scored and an RBI.

PITTSFORD SUTHERLAND (4-1) 7
HONEOYE FALLS-LIMA (2-2) 4
Alex Renzi finished 3-for-3 on the day with four RBI including a two-out, two-run go-ahead shot in the fourth as Sutherland bounced back from its first loss of the season. Renzi homered to right field and plated Paul Byrne to snap a three-all tie. Renzi gave the Knights a 3-2 lead in the second inning with a two-out single that brought home Cole Mann and Cole Pringle. Byrne struck out five and allowed four runs (three earned) on four hits and three walks over four innings to register the win. Jake Fekete struck out four and allowed one hit and one walk over three scoreless innings of relief for the save. Fekete also doubled and scored twice. Mann drove in two runs. Tyler Mullin singled and scored. Max Vorrasi singled and scored. HF-L’s Robert Brown tripled and scored a run. Jacob Campbell doubled and crossed home. Aidan Neenan walked twice, drove in a run and scored another for the Cougars. Charlie Kirby drove in a run with a single. Sutherland lost to undefeated Greece Athena in its previous game.

AQUINAS (2-2) 15

Aiden Morris and Max Calleri combined on the shutout as Aquinas won its second straight game. Morris started, struck out six and allowed three hits and two walks to register the win. Calleri fanned two over two innings of relief. Leading 2-0, Aquinas sent 12 to the plate in the third inning and scored seven runs. Tré Walker led the frame with a base hit. Lucas Leone walked, scored a run and later capped the stanza with an RBI single. Leone finished with two walks, two RBI and two runs scored in the win. Walker also scored twice in the game. Calleri connected on a two-run home run. Morris was 1-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored. Robert McCullough doubled and drove in two runs. Will Scanlon doubled, walked and scored three times. Caleb Wilson went 1-for-2 with two walks, two RBI and two runs scored. CJ Mangone had a hit, a walk and a run scored. Stephen Bell singled and scored a run. Thomas Bareham, Ryan Greenhagen, Evan Vinci and Brennen Russo each collected a hit for Eastridge.

Miguel Matos struck out 12 and hurled a five-inning no hitter to lead East. Matos retired the first eight he faced, seven on strikes. Pedro Garcia led the offense with a grand slam while Dion Mather hit a three-run home run and Luis Rivera connected on a solo shot. Mather finished 2-for-3 and reached base four times. He had two stolen bases, four RBI and scored three runs. Rivera also singled, reached base four times and had two RBI.  John Martinez walked and scored the lone Franklin/World of Inquiry run.

Logan Bulman struck out 10 and allowed one hit and four walks as Sodus won its second second straight by shutout and third this season. Bulman finished 2-for-5 at the plate with a double and a run scored. Evan Laird was 3-for-3 with two walks and three runs scored in the win. Jacob Laird singled, walked, was hit by a pitch and scored four runs. Jed Bodine had two doubles went 3-for-4 and scored three runs. Brady McCarthy also doubled twice was 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Ethan Cramer doubled and scored two runs. Henry Cromartie, Jr. had two singles and came home twice.

Emily McManus and Abby Unson both finished 3-for-5 with an RBI to lead Gates. McManus doubled and scored three runs. Unson had a triple and scored twice. Kathryn Conner went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored. Sadie Butler singled, drove in two runs and scored two more. Abbie Graupman walked twice and scored three runs.
