SUNY Geneseo junior infielder Audrey Minton hit a pair of home runs as the Knights took two from Brockport, earning a 6-1 victory in game one and taking a 9-0 decision in game two to open the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) schedule with a sweep.
GAME ONE – GENESEO 6, Brockport 1
- Junior infielder Leah VanDerwarker opened the game with a solo home run to give the Knights a 1-0 lead. Three batters later, Minton added the first of her home runs to give Geneseo a 3-0 lead after the top of the first inning.
- Brockport scored their only run of the contest, capitalizing on a Geneseo error in the fifth inning to cut into the lead, 3-1.
- Geneseo responded with three runs in the sixth inning as the Knights took advantage of three Brockport errors in the inning. VanDerwarker added an RBI single as the squad extended the lead to 6-1.
- Sophomore pitcher Lauren Kersch scattered seven hits, allowed just one walk and struck out seven Golden Eagles to improve to 5-0 from the circle on the year.
GAME TWO – GENESEO 9, Brockport 0
- The Knights and Golden Eagles played through four scoreless innings before Geneseo broke open the game with five runs in the fifth inning. Sophomore Lauren Gulick ripped a pinch-hit two-run single, sophomore Rebecca Schwartz added a sacrifice fly and the Knights scored two more runs on Brockport errors to take a 5-0 lead.
- Geneseo added four runs in the top of the seventh inning as first-year Kaitlyn Schmitz hit an RBI single and Minton added a three-run homer to tack on for a 9-0 advantage.
- Junior Mattie Woodard tossed seven scoreless innings, allowing just four hits and one walk while recording six strikeouts. She earned the complete-game victory to improve to 3-1 from the circle this season.

SUNY Geneseo first-years Kaitlyn Schmitz and Tara Brochu each hit their first collegiate home run as the Knights swept a doubleheader against host Nazareth on Wednesday afternoon.
GAME ONE – GENESEO 3, Nazareth 1
- The Knights jumped out to a two-run lead in the top of the first when Lauren Gulick doubled home Olivia Fazio and Leah VanDerwarker. Nazareth responded with a run in the bottom of the frame to cut the lead in half, 2-1.
- In the seventh, Schmitz added an insurance run, driving in Fazio with an RBI single to make it 3-1.
- Senior Mattie Klein earned her first collegiate win as she kept the Golden Flyer bats quiet, allowing just one run on three hits over four innings. Schmitz earned the save, tossing three innings of scoreless relief and striking out seven of her 12 batters faced.
GAME TWO – GENESEO 12, Nazareth 2
- Junior Audrey Minton opened the scoring in the third inning with an RBI single. VanDerwarker added a two-run double in the fourth to make it 3-0.
- Junior Iris Kahris triggered a five-run fifth inning, hitting an RBI single and stealing home later in the frame. First-year Hannah Olejniczak recorded an RBI single before VanDerwarker blasted a two-run home run to make it 8-0.
- Nazareth scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the fifth to extend the game, but Schmitz popped a solo shot to left in the sixth and Brochu added a three-run jack in the seventh to make it 12-2.
- Sophomore Sydney Bolton went 4.2 innings, allowing just two unearned runs to get the pitching victory while Elizabeth Eberhardt went 2.1 innings of scoreless relief.

- Through 16 games, the Knights have hit eight home runs. Minton and VanDerwarker share the team lead with three apiece, while Schmitz and Brochu each have one.

Geneseo (14-2, 2-0 SUNYAC) will travel to Potsdam to face the Bears in a SUNYAC doubleheader on Monday, April 11. The doubleheader was moved from the originally scheduled date of Friday, April 8.
