Carey, Heath, Mullin and Wester earn weekly Monroe County honors

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Ben Carey led Webster Schroeder to a three wins. Ryan Heath paced two Irondequoit victories including one milestone for his head coach. Tyler Mullin helped Pittsford Sutherland to a pair of triumphs while Caquan Wester and Eastridge clinched the top seed in Class A2. The four earned Monroe County Player of the Week (February 14-20th) for their respective divisions as announced by the league coaches.

Carey totaled 53 points in the three games to earn Monroe County Division I Player of the Week (POTW). None of the senior guard’s buckets proved larger than his 3-pointer with six seconds remaining to cap a 16-point second-half rally in the Warriors’ 68-66 win in overtime against Rush-Henrietta. Carey shot 10-of-17 from the floor in the win and finished with 23 points. He was good on 3-of-6 shots from long range in the contest and added six rebounds, three steals an assist and a block. Carey started the week with 23 points, eight rebounds and five assists in a win over Wilson. He finished with 10 assists, seven points, three rebounds and two steals to cap the week with a win over Fairport.

Heath averaged 18 points in two games to nab his second DII POTW of the season. The junior guard started the week with 16 points in a win over Gates-Chili. Heath collected eight assists, six rebounds, five deflections, a steal and a block in the win. He finished off the week with a game-high 20 points as Irondequoit head coach Chris Cardon posted win No. 500 of his career. Heath had eight rebounds, seven assists, seven deflections, and four steals in the win over Wayne.

Mullin finished with double-figure scoring in both Sutherland wins to take the D3 POTW. The senior guard scored 13 points in a divisional win over Brockport. He added five rebounds and three steals in the win. Mullin finished the week with 10 points, five assists, five steals and four rebounds in a win over Monroe.

Wester averaged a double-double to grab his second Division IV Player of the Week in 2021-22. The 6-foot-6 senior forward started with 34 points and 15 rebounds in a win over Batavia. Wester scored 18 and grabbed seven rebounds to cap the week with a victory over Greece Arcadia. He shot 52 percent from the floor for the week and averaged three assists per game.
