The Golden Eagles blew out Plattsburgh, 104-73, on the road behind David Grady III’s season-high 26 points. They have now won five in a row, improving to 15-6 overall and 10-5 in the SUNYAC.
DGIII finished with 26 points, seven boards, and four blocks, while shooting 10-for-16 from the field. In just 13 minutes of play off the bench, Colby Jordan went 7-for-8 on the way to a career-high 15 points. Jahidi Wallace was the only other player to hit double-digits, posting 11 points and six rebounds.
Brockport benefitted from contributions from all around, as seven other players scored at least five points. Joseph Pena (9pts), Tyler Cowie (9pts), Mekhi Beckett (8pts), Milo Scheve (7pts), Devante Hagins (6pts), Antonio Alvarez (5pts), and Tony Arnold (5pts) all chipped on offensively. Arnold also added five steals, four boards, and six assists, while Hagins included five assists, two blocks, and two steals.
For the fifth straight contest, Brockport got off to a strong start to secure a double-digit lead in the first half. The squad converted on 58.3% of its field goal attempts in the first half, while holding Plattsburgh to just 36.9% shooting to start the game. The Green and Gold worked to earn a 51-36 advantage going into halftime on the road.
After a 51-point performance in the first half, Brockport came back to score 53 more points in the second half to break 100 points for the first time all season. David Grady III scored nine of the team’s first 11 points to start the half, as the team held a comfortable 15-point edge. Plattsburgh was unable to cut into the lead,as the Golden Eagles went on to build an 87-58 lead with 7:25 left in regulation. With the game in hand the Brockport reserves received some extra run, maintaining a convincing lead through the finish line.
The Cardinals were led by Kevin Tabb’s 26 points, coming from a 9-for-21 shooting effort. Erik Salo and Franklin Infante both hit double figures, combining for 26 points. Plattsburgh has officially been eliminated from postseason contention, owning a record of 2-21 overall and 1-15 in the conference.
The Golden Eagles own the third seed in the SUNYAC standings after a 2-0 weekend sweep, with just three regular season games remaining. They are on the road yet again on Tuesday, February 15th when they take on Fredonia for a 7:30 pm tip-off.
