The SUNY Brockport men’s basketball team defeated Geneseo at home 73-57 for their third straight victory. The squad is now 13-6 overall and 8-5 in the conference this season.
Antonio Alvarez continues his hot shooting during this win streak, leading the team with a game-high 18 points. He shot 4-for-8 from beyond the arc while also adding five rebounds and two steals. Over the last three outings, Alvarez is averaging 17.3 points per game and has shot 12-for-24 from deep.

The Green and Gold were hot right from the opening tip and Antonio Alvarez led the way. The senior guard scored 10 points in the first five minutes of the contest, helping Brockport take a 15-9 lead. The rest of the team followed suit with strong shooting from outside. Brockport surged forward to own a 28-9 lead with 11:18 left in the half. The squad led by as many as 24 points, before heading into the mid-game break with a 43-25 advantage.
The Golden Eagles shot 53.1% from the floor and 42.9% from long range in the first half, while Geneseo was held to just 35.7% shooting to start the night.
Although Geneseo was down big going into halftime, the team would battle back to chip away at the lead in the second half. A pair of threes from Kip Dallaris would make it a nine-point game with 11:46 on the clock. Brockport’s lead would shrink to just seven points with less than five minutes in regulation, but the team went on a game clinching run. A series of dunks would ignite a spark that recaptured momentum, which led the Green and Gold to take the 16-point victory.
Michael Gannon had 17 points, while Kip Dallaris had 13 points and eight boards for Geneseo in the loss. The Knights are now 9-11 overall and 7-7 in the conference after losing seven of their last eight games.
The Golden Eagles will be on the road for their next four contests, as the regular season has just five games left on the schedule. They begin the road trip on Friday, February 11th with a matchup against Potsdam at 7:30 pm.
