Nazareth kept it rolling in women’s hoops Tuesday as the Golden Flyers traveled to Keuka and won for the fourth straight time and for the ninth time in their last 10 outings, 71-35, over the Wolves.
Nazareth is 10-5 overall and 5-1 in the Empire 8 Conference. Keuka slipped to 1-11 and 0-4. The Golden Flyers are tied for first place in the E8 standings.
Jadyn Abrams, last week’s conference Player of the Week, was among four Nazareth double digit scorers with 17 points, including 13 in the first half as Nazareth led 28-18. Kim Davis and Sabrina Wolfe each posted double-doubles. Davis had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Wolfe had 10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Miyah Sizer added 11 points.
Nazareth struggled a bit early on as Keuka hit a three-pointer midway through the second quarter to tie the score at 15-15. Nazareth then closed the half with a 13-3 scoring run – with nine points coming from Abrams – to secure the double-digit halftime edge.
Nazareth broke the game open in the third quarter by outscoring the Wolves 25-4 over that 10-minute stretch. In fact, Nazareth scored the first 25 points of the quarter before Keuka finally scored the last two baskets. Miyah Sizer nailed two three-pointers in the period and Caley Cornwell hit another as Nazareth’s lead continued to swell.
The fourth quarter brought more of the same with Cornwell scoring five points and Wolfe and Makalah Sizer each scoring four.
Nazareth went 30-for-72 (41.7%) from the floor with five three-pointers. There also was a 50-36 rebounding edge with 18 rebounds on the offensive end.
Nazareth is idle this weekend and returns to action Jan. 28 for an Empire 8 Conference home game against Alfred at 5:30 p.m.
