With the win, Fisher, which has come out on top in each of its last three games, improved to 12-4 on the season and 6-1 in the league standings while the Highlanders fell to 1-12 overall and 1-3 against Empire 8 opposition.

After swapping baskets over the first six minutes of play, Fisher stepped on the gas and never looked back as the Cardinals went on a 21-0 run over a five-minute stretch to push their lead to 22 with under 10 minutes showing on the clock.
Trailing 31-9, Houghton was able to put one through the net, but was unable to stop Fisher from doing the same as the game wore on with the home team closing out the first half holding a 23-point cushion, 46-23.
As the second frame got underway, the Cardinals’ advantage quickly grew to 33 following a 10-0 run. From there, Houghton cut the gap to 28, but was unable to sustain any momentum as Fisher’s lead was never in jeopardy.
Overall, the Cardinals were 26-for-62 (.419) from the floor and held their guest to just 34 percent shooting. Fisher held a significant margin on the glass after out-rebounding Houghton, 50-32, while on the defensive end of the court, the Cardinals were credited with 10 steals on the night.
Fisher will enjoy a week off before it returns to action at 7:30 p.m. on Friday night in another Empire 8 contest at Keuka College.
