Sophomore Mason Blackwood connected three times from behind the 3-point arc in the third quarter when Aquinas pulled away to take championship of the 2022 Juggler Classic in Utica, New York. Blackwood finished 8-of-12 from the floor including 6-of-7 from long range to lead four in doubles figures with 27 points. The 6-foot-6 forward also collected nine rebounds and two assists.
Jack Bleier hit four triples in the second quarter when Aquinas outscored Central Catholic 30-17 to take an 11-point lead into halftime at 45-34. Bleier handed out a game-high seven assists while committing just one turnover. The senior guard, who scored 16 points to go with three assists and four steals in Saturday’s win over Bishop Ludden (III), earned tournament MVP honors.
Myles Blackwood finished with 14 points and four assists in the win. Robert McCullough had 10 points and four rebounds. Chris Leysath and Will Scanlon scored four apiece. Mykel White, Myles James, Malakhie Alston and Owen Acciari each had three points.
Mason Blackwood earned an All-Tournament selection. He finished the two games of the tournament hitting 17-of-25 shot attempts from the floor including 8-of-11 from long range. He also corralled 15 total rebounds.
Danny Bologna and Damien Moore scored 21 points apiece to lead Central Catholic.
Aquinas hosts Webster Thomas on Wednesday. A 7 PM tip off is scheduled.
SARATOGA SPRINGS (II) 52
BISHOP KEARNEY (7-3) 75
Leading 37-25 at halftime, Kaia Goode and Amaia Jackson combined for 12 points in the third quarter when Kearney outscored Saratoga Springs 24-12 to take a commanding lead into the final eight minutes. Jackson finished with a game-high 22 points. The ninth-grade guard connected nine times from the floor in the contest including twice from behind the 3-point arc. Goode scored 19 points in the win.
Aniya Rowe added 15 points, and Klarissa Goode had 11 for BK which won its third straight game (each by double-digits) and seventh in the past eight.
Caydence Hadley and Allie Hall added four points apiece.
Carly Wise led Saratoga Springs with 25 points. Tash Chudy had 21.
Kearney hosts Edison Tech on Tuesday. A 6:30 PM tip off is slated.
