ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Spencerport senior Lily Brongo was named to the 2021 East Region team as recently announced by the United Soccer Coaches.
A fourth-year player on the varsity squad, Brongo scored 10 goals and assisted on 27 more for 47 points to help the Rangers to their sixth straight sectional title.
“She’s had a great career and every season she has come back a better player,” said Spencerport head coach Jamie Schneider . “This definitely showed he senior season.”
Brongo’s 27 assists led all of Section V. She had a goal and four assists in Spencerport’s 5-nil win over Grand Island (VI) in the New York State Class A Far West Regional.
“She is one of our hardest workers in the off-season,” said Schneider emphasizing Brongo’s speed and ability to pass from the outside of the field. “On the soccer field and in the weight room she prepares very well for her game to continue to improve.”
Brongo finished her career at Spencerport with 23 goals and 43 assists for 89 points.

“She has solid technical skills, speed, and she is smart on the ball,” said Rita Kladstrup whose Brighton Bruins faced Brongo and Spencerport on three occasions this past season including the Class A1 final. “She will beat any player down the line or take the ball inside. Her services are played perfectly into the box. She has great vision, and she knows where to place the ball to set people up. Everyone team would love to have a Lily Brongo on their team because she is always setting up teammates with a goal!!!”
Brongo joins Leah Wengender as the most recent player from the Spenecerport girls’ program to garner East Region honors.
