Five named to East Region team

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Joshua Bolt (Wayne), Keefer Calkins (Bath-Haverling), Cody Cavuoto (Hilton), Gaven Egan (Churchville-Chili), Will Field (Pittsford Sutherland) were among those to receive 2021 East Region honors as announced by the United Soccer Coaches late last week.

The 66-member team covers the states of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Bolt, the Finger Lakes East Player of the Year, finished with 33 goals, nine assists and 75 points for the Eagles which posted an undefeated league record and advanced to the Section V Class A semi-finals.

Calkins topped all of Section V with 50 goals and 14 assists for 114. The Livingston County Division I Player of the Year helped Bath-Haverling to the NYS Class B finals.

Cavuoto finished with 24 goals and 12 assists for the Class AA champion Cadets who eventually reached the NYS title game. The Monroe County Division I Co-Player of the Year netted the game winner in the sectional semi-finals before tallying both goals in the sectional championship.

Egan, the Monroe County Division II Player of the Year, finished with nine goals and three assists. In two consecutive regular-season games, the senior midfielder delivered golden goals including the game winner against Brighton.

Field scored 17 goals and added four assists for the Class A champion Sutherland Knights. It was Field who started the play that ended with Sutherland’s game-winner in the sectional final and he scored the lone Sutherland goal in the regional final.
