ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Lily Brongo and Bre DeHond led the Spencerport girls to the New York State Class A semi-finals. Eighth-grader Mia Gray helped Byron-Bergen to Class C state semi-final. Grace Russell and Sophia Templeton guided Fillmore to the Class D final four while Abigail Marotta (Marion) topped the Class D scoring list.
The six players earned New York First Team honors as announced last week.
DeHond, the Monroe County Division II Player of the Year, led the undefeated Rangers (19-0-2) with 27 goals and 14 assists for 68 points and was named to the NYS Class A First Team. The senior forward registered a goal and two assists in the Rangers’ 6-nil over Our Lady of Mercy in the Class A semi-finals and followed that with a tally in a 5-2 win over Brighton in the finals.
Brongo joined her teammate on the Class A First Team. The University of Wyoming commit led all of Section V with 27 assists including four helpers in Spencerport’s 5-nil win over Grand Island (VI) in the Far West Regional.
Brighton’s Maggie Cregan and Webster Schroeder’s Megan Fry were named to the Class A Second Team while Wrianna Hudson (Greece Athena) and Emma Taylor (Spencerport) earned Third Team selections.
Ava Allen (Pittsford Sutherland) was named to the NYS Class A Fourth Team with Catherine Rogers (Webster Thomas) earning a Fifth Team spot. Ella Fadale (Brockport), the Monroe County Division III Player of the Year, and Leah Shaffer (Pittsford Mendon) garnered Class A Sixth Team honors.
Gray collected 27 goals and 18 assists for 72 points in leading Byron-Bergen to its fifth sectional title in program history and first since 2002. The Genesee Region Division I Player of the Year had a goal and an assist in the Bees’ 5-1 win over HAC in the Section V Class C final. She also assisted on the game winner when Byron-Bergen handed Warsaw its first loss of the season in the Class C regional qualifier.
Warsaw’s Chloe Hubbard, the Livingston County Division II Player of the Year, earned NYS Class C Second Team along with Brooke Jarkiewicz (Byron-Bergen) and Makayla Higgins (Warsaw).

Kerrigan Driskell (Addison), T’Mia Kitchings (Kendall) and Cierra Smith (York) were named to the Class C Third team while Ellie Cochrane (Avon) and Morgan Wolcott (Geneseo) earned NYS Fourth Team honors.
Russell and Templeton topped the NYS Class D First Team. The duo combined for 37 goals and 39 assists in leading Fillmore to its second sectional championship in three seasons and first NYS semi-final appearance in program history. Russell, the Allegany County Player of the Year, finished with 19 goals and a team-high 20 assists. Templeton posted 18 markers and 19 helpers.
Marotta, the Wayne County Player of the Year, finished with 43 goals and 14 assists for 100 points. The sophomore forward/midfielder scored goals in 16 of Marion’s 19 matches this season. She had eight games of three goals or more.
Fillmore teammate Hope Russell was named to the NYS Class D Second Team along with Genesee Region Division II Player of the Year, Autumn Mathisen (Batavia-Notre Dame). Zoe Beardsley (Fillmore) was named to the Third Team while Alyzse Buirch (Marion), Julia Flaitz (Arkport/Canaseraga) and Delaney Szostak (Marion) earned spots on the Class D Fourth Team.
Faiport’s Katie Diem topped the Section V Class AA selections with a spot on the Second Team. Delaney Tellex (Penfield) was named to Third Team while Natalie Giunta (Penfield), the Monroe County Division I Player of the Year, and Brigid Mulholland (Fairport) earned NYS Class AA Fifth Team.
Palmyra-Macedon’s Maya Ikewood, the Finger Lakes West Player of the Year, garnered NYS Class B Second Team. Monroe County Division IV Player of the Year, Kuditra DeRosa (Greece Olympia) and Keegan Smith (Bath-Haverling) earned Class B Third Team honors. Mercedes Buckingham (Palmyra-Macedon) was named to the Fourth Team while Ella Yartem (Bath-Haverling), the Livingston County Division I Player of the Year, earned Fifth Team. Sierra Harrison (Penn Yan) and Morgan Welch (Greece Olympia) were named to the NYS Class B Sixth Team.
