Eight champions will look to continue their seasons as Section V Girls’ Soccer moves to regional qualifiers. Four games are on the slate for Tuesday. Here’s the breakdown:
CLASS A
SPENCERPORT RANGERS (17-0-1/Monroe County Division II) vs. PITTSFORD MENDON VIKINGS (15-3-1/Monroe County Division III)
How they got here: Spencerport (No. 3 NYSSWA Class A) opened with an 8-0 win over No. 8 seed Irondequoit in the quarterfinals, defeated No. 4 Our Lady of Mercy in the semifinals and No. 2 Brighton in the Class A1 finals. Pittsford Mendon (No. 10 NYSSWA Class A) opened with a 3-1 win over No. 7 seed Aquinas in the quarterfinals, advanced past No. 3 seed Brockport, 2-0, in the semifinals and defeated cross-town rival Pittsford Sutherland in the Class A2 finals.
Total goals scored: Spencerport (78), Pittsford Mendon (43)
Total goals allowed: Spencerport (6), Pittsford Mendon (10)
Last time they met: Spencerport defeated Mendon 2-0 in the 2019 Class A final.
Trends: Spencerport has posted 13 shutouts this season The Rangers have not lost to a Section V opponent since October of 2019. Pittsford Mendon has won six straight games and outscored its opponents, 12-2, in that span.

History 101: Spencerport has reached the last four regionals (Covid-19 cancelled the 2020 NYS Tournament). Mendon advanced to regionals in 2014 where the Vikings beat Williamsville East, 3-2.
What’s at stake: A spot in the New York State Class A Far West Regional against the Section VI champion either Grand Island (16-1-2) or Williamsville South (12-5-1).

CLASS B
PALMYRA-MACEDON RED RAIDERS (17-2/Finger Lakes East Division) vs. BATH-HAVERLING RAMS(18-1/Livingston County Division I)
How they arrived here: Palmyra-Macedon (No. 10 NYSSWA Class B) opened with a 10-0 win over No. 9 seed Greece Odyssey in the quarterfinals, advanced past No. 4 seed Batavia, 5-0, in the semifinals and defeated Hornell, 2-0 in the Class B1 championship game. Bath-Haverling (No. 5 NYSSWA Class B) opened with a 3-0 win over No. 8 seed Livonia in the quarterfinals, beat four-seed Dansville, 4-0, in the semifinals and Penn Yan in the Class B2 finals.

Last time they met: Bath-Haverling defeated Pal-Mac, 2-1 when the two teams met on October 11th.

CLASS C
WARSAW TIGERS (20-0-0/Livingston County Division III) vs. BYRON-BERGEN BEES(17-3-0/Genesee Division I)
How they got here: Warsaw (No. 2 NYSSWA Class C) opened with a 10-1 win over No. 16 seed Pembroke in the first round and No. 9 seed Avon, 4-1, in the quarterfinals before advancing past No. 4 seed Williamson, 6-0, in the semifinals and Geneseo, 3-0 in the finals. Byron-Bergen (No. 9 NYSSWA Class C) opened with an 8-0 win over No. 15 seed Red Jacket in the first round and No. 7 seed Campbell-Savona, 2-0, in the quarterfinals before advancing past No. 6 seed Bishop Kearney/Chesterton, 5-2, in the semifinals and HAC, 5-1 in the finals.

CLASS D
FILLMORE EAGLES (19-0-0 Allegany County Division 1) vs. BATAVIA-NOTRE DAME (15-2-2 Genesee Division 2).
How they arrived here: Fillmore (No. 3 NYSSWA Class D) opened sectionals with a 7-0 win over South Seneca before beating Honeoye (4-0) and Marion (4-0) in the finals. Batavia-Notre Dame (No. 7 NYSSWA Class D) defeated Hammondsport (1-0) in the quarter-finals before knocking off C.G. Finney (4-0) and Avoca/Prattsburg (4-1).

Total Goals Allowed: Fillmore (7), Batavia-Notre Dame (12)
Trends: Fillmore has not allowed a goal in nine straight games. Batavia-Notre Dame has won 11 consecutive and not allowed more than one goal in a game since September 21st.
