PENFIELD, N.Y. — A battle of state-ranked sides didn’t disappoint.
Alec Smith connected on the equalizer midway through the second half as Hilton (No. 14 NYSSWA Class AA) rallied in Monroe County Division I action. Smith redirected a cross from teammate Logan Matthews for his team-leading fifth marker of the season.

The Cadets had their chances to take the lead in the remaining 23:19 but didn’t capitalize.
Cristiano Tegas gave Penfield the lead in the first half. The junior attacker took advantage of a second-chance opportunity on teammate Cristiano Mounnarat’s free kick from 20 yards out. The goal was the first this season from Tegas.

Penfield (No. 1 NYSSWA Class AA) played without leading scorer Shane McMillan who was on the sideline wearing a walking boot on his left foot. The Robert Morris commit has five goals and three assists on the season.

The same two teams will meet on October 8th at Hilton’s LeBeau Field.
Penfield (5-0-1) is undefeated in its last 19 games dating back to the Patriots’ undefeated run in the 2020 season. John Cotsonas’s squad will host Webster Thomas on Wednesday. A 6:30 kickoff is scheduled.
Hilton (5-0-1) welcomes Brighton on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. start.
