UBL Friday: Shutts leads DII Blue to second straight win

Henry Shutts (Gananda) finished 3-for-4 on the night and highlighted a six-run third inning with a bases-clearing double to lead DII Blue. Shutts plated Dylan Dumont (Webster Schroeder), Nicholas O’Toole (Greece Athena) and Anthony Getty (Hilton) with his first double of the season. He scored one batter later when Conor Forkey followed with a double off the fence in left. Shutts drove in four runs and scored three more. In two games this week, he has driven in six and scored four times on five hits. On the mound, the right-hander also started and hurled three shutout innings in the win. He struck out five and allowed two hits without issuing a walk.

Dumont collected a hit and a walk and scored twice. Getty went 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored. Brady Parker worked three walks and scored twice. Ryan Struzik (Penfield) finished 1-for-3 with a walk and three RBI.

Colin MacLean (Pittsford Sutherland) doubled, walked and scored a run. Connor Smith (Webster Thomas) walked twice and scored a run. O’Toole struck out four over two innings of relief work.

DII Red’s JoJo Guisto (Fairport) walked twice and scored twice. Thomas Rankin III (Greece Athena) singled, walked, drove in a run and scored another. Jackson Frisa (Spencerport), Timothy Leary (Northstar Christian) and Jacob Sova (Greece Arcadia) each singled and drove in a run.

Ethan Light (Penfield) singled and scored a run. Tommy Anken (Penfield) also crossed home. Alec Mustico (Webster Thomas) drove in a run.
