Saturday’s twi-night doubleheader between the Rochester Red Wings and visiting Lehigh Valley was suspended because of a medical emergency for IronPigs third baseman Daniel Brito.

Brito collapsed during the bottom of the first inning of game one and was later taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

Brito gave chase to a foul ball off the bat of Wings Jakson Reetz prior to the incident. Wings manager Matthew LeCroy, who was in third base coach’s box, caught Brito before he fell to ground.

No reason was given for the incident.

A press release from the Wings read “In the best interest of the players and coaches for both teams, today’s Rochester Red Wings doubleheader vs. Lehigh Valley has been suspended due to a medical emergency on the field in the bottom of the 1st inning.”

Fans may exchange tickets from Saturday’s game for any remaining home contests this season.

The teams are scheduled to play a 1 p.m. on Sunday. No announcement has been about a potential make-up for Saturday’s games.

A 2014 free agent signing, Brito was recently promoted to Triple-A for the first time in his career. The native of Venezuela is hitting .286 in eight games with Lehigh Valley. He had four extra-base hits including two home runs and a triple with eight RBI and six run scored.

Brandon Snyder‘s two-out home run had given the Wings a 3-0 lead when the game was suspended. Ali Castillo and Jake Noll scored on the play.
