MOOSIC, PA. — Brandon Snyder connected on his ninth and 10th home runs of the season as the Rochester Red Wings rebounded from a hitless effort on Wednesday to defeat the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders, 9-0 in International League action, Thursday night.
Snyder’s three-run shot in the first inning helped the Wings jump to a 4-0 advantage. The designated hitter delivered a two-run shot in the fifth.
Ben Braymer started and hurled five shutout innings to pick up the win. The southpaw struck out five while giving up two walks and one hit to run his record to 2-6 on the season.
Nick Wells, Javy Guerra, Aaron Barrett and Gabe Klobosits each tossed a scoreless inning of relief. Barrett struck out two of the three batters he faced.
Daniel Palka paced a 13-hit attack going 4-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Adrián Sanchez finished 3-for-5 with a run scored out of the leadoff spot.
Jake Noll went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored. Noll had his 10-game hitting streak snapped the previous night. The Wings first baseman hit .500 (19-for-38) during the recent stretch with two doubles, one triple and four home runs.
The Wings were 5-for-12 with runners in scoring position in the contest.
Rochester (28-39) had lost five of six entering the game including Wednesday’s 8-0 defeat in which a trio of Railriders (43-22) combined to no-hit the Wings.
The series continues Friday night at PNC Field with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch.
