Symetra Tour Prasco Charity Classic
England’s Meghan MacLaren birdied two of her final three holes to win the Prasco Charity Classic outside Cincinnati for her first Symetra Tour victory.
MacLaren, who entered the final round in a five-way tie for the lead, won by two shots over Linnea Johansson of Sweden and China’s Weiwei Zhang.
MacLaren won the 2017 Ladies European Access Tour Order of Merit, the equivalent of the Symetra Tour in Europe and now has two top ten finishes in her nine Symetra Tour starts this season.
The Tour is off this week before heading to French Lick, Indiana for the Donald Ross Classic.
KPMG Women’s PGA Championship
Nelly Korda won her second straight tournament and her first career major at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in Atlanta. Korda pulled away from Lizette Salas for a three-shot victory and became the first American woman since Stacy Lewis in 2014 to reach the number one spot in the Rolex World Rankings.
Salas tied her career best major finish, to go with a runner-up finish in the 2019 AIG Women’s (British) Open. Both players spent one year on the Symetra Tour before qualifying for the LPGA; Salas in 2011 and Korda in 2016.
The LPGA Tour heads to Texas for the Volunteers of America Classic.
