Jamir Jones, the former Aquinas and Notre Dame standout will join his brother, Jarron, on the Pittsburgh Steelers, the club announced on Wednesday.
Jamir Jones, who signed a free agent deal in 2020 and spent training camp with the Houston Texans before being released, played 37 games at Notre Dame from 2016 to 2019. He recorded 30 tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
He made the move from linebacker to defensive end for his junior season with the Fighting Irish and will likely be an outside linebacker for the Steelers behind T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith.

Jones helped Aquinas to the 2013 and 2015 NYS Class AA championships. He compiled 157 tackles with 9.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries for the Li’l Irish. He also rushed for 205 yards on 68 carries and made 45 catches for 879 yards combining for six touchdowns.
Jarron Jones, also a former standout at Aquinas and Notre Dame, made the move from playing defensive line in college to the offensive line with Pittsburgh. He was part of the Steelers’ practice squad last season.
