Anthony Lamb (Greece Athena/University) is heading to Disney.
The former Section V standout will continue his professional career as a member of the Canton Charge when the 2021 NBA G-League opens its season in February at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Florida – the same venue where the NBA restarted its 2019-20 season.
The Charge selected Lamb earlier this week with the sixth pick of the 2021 G-League.
Canton will be one of 18 teams participating in the 2021 season with the top eight teams advancing to a single-elimination playoff.
A free agent signee with Detroit, Lamb saw action in pre-season with the Pistons before being waived.
A two-time America East Player of the Year with the University of Vermont, Lamb led the Catamounts to NCAA Tournament appearances in 2017 and 2019 during his freshman and junior seasons. The 6-foot-6 forward averaged 16.7 points and 7.1 rebounds as a senior this past year when the season was cut short in response to COVID-19.
Lamb led Greece Athena, under then head coach Jim Johnson, to three straight sectional titles. The Trojans advanced to the 2015 NYSPHSAA Class A title game where they fell to Scotia-Glenville (II), 54-49.
Founded in 2001 as the NBA D-League, the league was renamed for the 2017-18 season with the announcement of a multi-year expanded partnership between the NBA and Gatorade.
