Bishop Kearney sophomore Kaia Goode ran point for a Lady Kings squad which won their third consecutive sectional title. The 5-foot-2 guard averaged 7.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 4.5 steals and played all 23 games.
Goode shot 51 percent from the field, 41 percent on long-distance shots and 86 percent on free throws. The 5-foot-2 guard led Section V in assists (139) and was top five in steals (104). Goode scored in double figures six times, dished out at least eight assists five times and nabbed at least five steals on nine occasions.
Her season-best scoring effort was a 17-point performance on December 30th in a 52-43 win over Cardinal O’Hara (Monsignor Martin) in which she also had three rebounds, six assists and four steals. Goode had 11 assists twice (December 13th in a 61-50 win over TC Williams (Virginia) and January 7th in a 63-25 win at Edison Tech in which she swiped seven steals). The rising junior had seven steals in back-to-back games against Edison Tech and Saratoga Springs (II).
Goode was named to the Private-Parochial Division I second team during her third campaign on the varsity squad. She plays AAU for I-90 Elite. Goode looks to continue her solid high school career with the same core from the three-time sectional champs (Marianna Freeman, Taylor Norris, Emily Tytler, Saniaa Wilson and Camille Wright).
