Lyons freshman JC Walker contributed to a Lions squad that sported a 21-3 record and won their third straight sectional title. The freshman forward averaged 12.2 points per game, shot 49 percent (102-of-210) from the field and 71 percent (51-of-72) from the free throw line.
Walker corralled 206 rebounds (9.8 RPG), swiped 46 steals (2.2 SPG), handed out 35 assists (1.7 APG) and swatted 25 shots (1.2 BPG) as well.
Standout performances by the freshman forward this year included season-highs of four blocks, four steals and five assists. In the sectional quarterfinals against Pembroke, Walker connected on eight foul shots and scored 20 points in a 73-46 win.
With the graduation of Benji Kemp, Walker will play a more expanded role next season with Jaylen Battle, Horace Betts IV and Ahmir James.
