Wayne junior Tyler Reynolds was the leading scorer on an Eagles squad that won 19 games and advanced to the Class A2 sectional semifinals as the No. 3 seed. The 5-foot-11 guard averaged 17.4 points, 3.3 assists, 3.3 steals and 3.1 rebounds in 27.2 minutes of action.
Reynolds scored 383 points over 22 games played on 47 percent (143-of-302) shooting and 39 percent (59-of-150) from beyond the arc. The junior guard paced the Eagles in steals (73) as well. Reynolds dished out 72 assists and grabbed 67 boards.
Reynolds combined for 36 points in two sectional games, including 20 plus 10 steals in the semifinals against NE Douglass. Other standout performances by the 5-foot-11 junior included 31 points and six long-range shots on December 27th in a 75-31 win over Greece Olympia, eight rebounds on December 10th in a 65-42 win over Palmyra-Macedon and eight assists against Penn Yan.
Last spring, Reynolds played AAU for Central Western. The 5-foot-11 guard will return next season with Mason Blakenberg, Devon Forrest and Eli Schichtel.
Wayne will make the transition to Class B for the 2020-21 season. The Eagles won the 2017 and 2018 Class A2 titles.
