Tony Arnold, Tah’Jae Hill, Andrew Mason and Jacob Shadders each led their respective divisions in scoring. Arnold lifted Eastridge to its second sectional title in program history and first in 56 years. Hill finished second in Section V in career-active scoring. Mason became the all-time leading scorer in Webster Thomas program history, and Shadders continued where he left off last season lifting Pittsford Mendon to the sectional semifinals.
The three seniors and junior guard were named the Players of the Year as announced by Monroe County coaches
Hill averaged 27.2 points, eight boards and two assists per game to earn Division I honors for the second straight year. The senior guard netted 25 or more points in 14 games this season, including a season-high 49 on December 27th in a 78-41 win over Eugenio Maria. Hill completed his four-year varsity career with 1,953 points.
Victor’s two leading scorers, Matt Caggiano and Connor Williams, were named on the Division I First Team. Caggiano was third in the division in scoring at 14.2 points per game while Williams contributed 13.0. The duo paced a Victor squad which was second in Monroe County in scoring at 67.7 points per game and first in defense at 50.3.
Fairport’s Ryan Lucey, Penfield’s Dyllon Scott and Rush-Henrietta’s Jevonte Williams rounded out the list for the Division I First Team. Scott finished second in the division in scoring at 21.7 points per game while Williams was fourth with 13.6. Scott completed his three-year varsity career with 1,071 points. Lucey was second on the Red Raiders in scoring at 11.9 points and sparked a first-round sectional victory over Aquinas.
Chase Dickens and CJ James made the Division I Second Team for Victor. The junior duo were third and fourth on the Blue Devils in scoring at 10.4 and 10.8 points per game, respectively. Max Molisani (Fairport), RJ Wilkins (Penfield), Eddie Beverly (Rush-Henrietta) and Luke Insley (Webster Schroeder) rounded out the list for the Division I Second Team. Insley was fifth in the division in scoring at 13.4 points per game. Wilkins led the Patriots with 13.3 points while Molisani paced the Red Raiders at 12.6. Beverly chipped in 9.1 points.
Mason netted 22.9 points, grabbed 6.1 rebounds and dished out 3.4 assists to earn Division II Player of the Year yet again after sharing the honors with Gates-Chili’s Keith Slack last season. The senior guard connected on 49 percent of his three-pointers and 80 percent of his foul shots as well. Mason scored 20 or more points in 11 games, including a season-high 42 on January 24th in a 78-74 win over Churchville-Chili. The senior guard completed his four-year varsity career with 1,394 points.
Teammate Dannie Palmer joined Mason on the Division II All-League Team. The senior guard complemented his classmate with 11.4 points per game.
Luke Melidona and Keenan Robertson made Division II First Team for Irondequoit. Robertson finished second in the division scoring at 18.6 points per game and Melidona chipped in 9.3.
Griffin Stella (Churchville-Chili), Adam Williams (Gates-Chili) and Patrick Uebelacker (Spencerport) rounded out the list for the Division II First Team. These three players rounded out the top five scorers in the division as well. Stella averaged 17.1 points, Williams scored 16.6. and Uebelacker netted 15.3.
Casey Herod (Canandaigua), John Keele (Churchville-Chili), Devin Walton (Gates-Chili), Nick Leonardo (Irondequoit) and Gino Pellett (Spencerport) earned Division II Second Team honors. Pellett led the Rangers in scoring at 15.6 points while Herod paced the Braves with 13.0. Keele netted 14.2 points per game and Walton contributed 13.2 on a Spartans’ squad who defeated Penfield in the first round of sectionals. Leonardo was second on the Eagles in scoring at 9.9 points.
Shadders averaged 22.9 points and 7.5 rebounds per game to earn 2020 Division III honors. This is the second straight year the award has gone to a Pittsford Mendon player after Daniel Cook won it last season. The junior guard connected on 44 percent of his shots, including 35 from beyond the arc, and 72 percent of his free throws. Shadders scored 20 or more points in 15 games, including a season-high 33 twice (January 10th in a 65-46 win over Brockport and January 31st in an 87-71 victory over Brighton). The junior guard has 1,052 career varsity points.
Teammates Caleb Arena and Jackson Green joined Shadders on the Division III All-League Team. Green was fifth in the division in scoring at 13.9 points per game as a freshman. Arena chipped in 7.4 points.
Matthew Falter (Brighton), Samuel Velletri (Brockport), DeAndre Newsome (Greece Athena) and Ben DiGiovanni (Pittsford Sutherland) earned Division III First Team honors. Falter finished second in the division in scoring at 18.0 points per game and DiGiovanni was third with 15.5. Velletri paced the Blue Devils with 13.8 points while Newsome scored 11.7 for a Trojans squad who had three players averaging double figures.
Tyler Ortiz (Brighton), Troy Leibert (Brockport), Gabriel Taylor (Greece Arcadia), Kenny Freeman (Greece Athena) and Jalyn Moorehead (Pittsford Sutherland) rounded out the list for the Division III Second Team. Moorehead finished fourth in the division in scoring at 14.5 points as a sophomore. Freeman led the Trojans with 13.3 points per game while Taylor paced the Titans at 8.3. Ortiz averaged 11.9 points and Leibert chipped in 9.4 per game.
Arnold scored 26.2 points, corralled 6.3 rebounds and handed out 5.4 assists per game to earn Division IV Player of the Year. The senior guard netted 20 or more points in 18 games, including a season-high 48 on December 27th in a 91-64 victory over Greece Athena. Arnold paced an Eastridge squad which led Monroe County in scoring at 73.9 points per game. The 6-foot-1 guard completed his four-year varsity career with 1,576 points.
Teammates Percy Robinson and Jalen Rose Hannah joined Arnold on the Division IV team. The duo was second and third on the Lancers in scoring at 10.2 and 9.8 points per game, respectively.
Zach Gilebarto (Batavia), Jaden Hartsfield (Greece Odyssey) and Patrick Lustyk (Honeoye Falls-Lima) made the Division IV First Team. These three players finished second, third and fourth in the division in scoring as well. Hartsfield scored 20.7 per game and completed his three-year varsity career with 1,186 points. Lustyk averaged 22.2 points while Gilebarto netted 17.9.
Caeden White (Batavia), Presten Mathis (Greece Odyssey), Ehnoc Tossah (Greece Olympia) and Hayden Smith (Honeoye Falls-Lima) rounded out the list for the Division IV Second Team. White finished fifth in the division in scoring at 13.1 points per game. Tossah led the Spartans with 10.4 points. Mathis netted 12.9 while Smith contributed 10.0.
Dan Roser (Eastridge), Chris Cardon (Irondequoit), Robert Nally (Pittsford Mendon) and Tyler Roberts (Victor) earned Coach of the Year honors. Roberts and the Blue Devils won their first 19 games of the season and clinched a sectional semifinals berth en route to a 20-2 record. Cardon led the Eagles to a 16-game winning streak and their third sectional final appearance in four years. Nally was named Division III Coach of the Year for the second straight season after leading the Vikings to a 16-5 record and division title. Roser led Eastridge to a 19-5 record, a division title and its second sectional title in program history.
