ELMIRA, N.Y. — Tournament MVP Saniaa Wilson scored five of her game-high 17 points in the fourth quarter when the Bishop Kearney girls’ basketball team (No. 7 NYSSWA Class AA) rallied to beat Cardinal O’Hara (VI) 52-43 in the finals of the Josh Palmer Fund Elmira Holiday Inn Classic, on Monday.
Trailing 39-35 entering the fourth quarter, Kearney (6-1) outscored O’Hara 17-4 over the final eight minutes. Kaia Goode connected on her second 3-pointer of the game and also had five points in the final stanza. Taylor Norris scored four of her 10 points in the decisive quarter, and Camille Wright added three points.
Kearney converted 15 of 20 free throws for the game.
Emily Tytler had a trio of triples and nine points in the contest. Caydence Hadley contributed four points. Goode finished with eight points.
Amelia Strong led O’Hara (No. 11 NYSSWA Class AA) with 16 points.
