BUFFALO, N.Y. — Kobe Long connected three times from behind the 3-point arc and scored 13 of his game-high 29 points over the first 16 minutes of play as the McQuaid Jesuit Knights grabbed a 34-28 lead at halftime.
But it wasn’t enough as Canisius (No. 2 NYSSWA Class A) outscored McQuaid 28-15 in the third quarter and went on to an 89-76 victory.
Long finished the game with five 3-pointers. The senior guard scored 12 in the fourth quarter.
Jermaine Taggart converted 8-of-11 free throws and finished with 23 points for McQuaid (2-5).
Keith Warren added 10 points for the Jesuit Knights. Charlie Salina (5), Reuben Daniel (4), Ryan Hoffman (3) and Joe Cairns (2) rounded out the scoring for McQuaid.
Dewayne Vass paced Canisius (5-0) with 28 points. Joe Ciocca had 20. Canisius (No. 1 Center Court WNY Large-School rankings) has four double-digit wins this season.
