ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Sandro Bourdeau scored four points during an 8-2 run extending from the third into the fourth quarter as Rochester Prep pulled away for a 42-38 victory over Chesterton Academy in Section V boys’ basketball action from Clark Gymnasium on the campus of Rochester Institute of Technology, Thursday night.
Bourdeau converted a rebound and putback then hit a pair of free throws as the Tigers snapped a 24-24 game and did not surrender their lead.
“We’re looking for paint touches every single time down the court,” Rochester Prep head coach Jose Barocio said when referring to his senior forward. “Guards have a hard time feeding the post. We got big guys that are begging for the basketball. We’ve been working all week long on finding the paint whether it’s through our big man or through direct drives to the rim. As soon as we find Sandro, that’s when our offense works.”

Knotted at 24 late in the third quarter, Emmanuel Graham scored in the lane. Bourdeau followed with a bucket to give RPrep a 28-24 edge heading into the fourth quarter.
Jaquis Robinson hit a runner in the lane, and Bourdeau connected from the charity stripe for a 32-26 lead.
Chesterton led 15-14 at halftime and pushed their advantage to three when Benjamin Tantalo got ahead of the defense for a layup and a 19-16 Chargers’ advantage.
Eight possessions into the fourth quarter, RPrep had its largest lead of the game when Jacques Conde nailed a wing 3-pointer for a 37-29 advantage.
“First half we were settling for threes in transition, so it was one and done,” Barocio explained. “In practice for this last week, we were looking for ball distribution. Let the ball find the open man, penetrate. The first half, they didn’t quite execute at that level. The second half, I saw them begin to attack a little bit more. I saw them begin to find the post a little bit more.”
Robinson finished with a game-high 14 points. Donya Walton added 10. Bourdeau had eight and Graham seven points.

“Paint touches and inside-out, that’s what pushed us to the W,” Barocio added. “We certainly had to push to get there.”
