Blocker possesses a quick first step which she uses to get defenders on their heels, thrives on contact near the basket, she sheds opposing players while creating space to work; strong hands, she is an active and aggressive rebounder who can chase down long caroms while being able to grab rebounds in traffic around the paint; instinctual defender, she sees one play ahead and gets in passing lanes, makes seamless transition from defense to offense.
Melvin Council, Jr. 6-foot, Sr. G University Preparatory Charter School for Young Men/UPrep (Private/Independent) – Instincts, speed and handle rolled into one package, Council has added perimeter scoring to his repertoire to make him one of the most dynamic performers in Section V; size and length make him a difficult matchup, he can easily see over smaller guards to create for teammates, at the same time bigger players have little to no chance stopping him off the dribble, has to be defended beyond the arc, he connected five times from long range against a Fairport squad traditionally known for limiting opposing shooters, adding this dimension as reliable shooter will create more space for him to create; at his best on defense where he anticipates the next play well, once a turnover is created he uses his explosiveness to get to full speed within two strides; underrated rebounder with impressive leaping ability to gather caroms around the rim but quickness to run down longer boards.
Najier Daniels 6-foot-3 Sr. F Hilton (Monroe County Division I) – Raw interior player who is scratching at the surface of his potential, competes with an impressive motor, keeps feet moving while ball is in the air, strong hands with sturdy shoulders; has developed into a reliable scorer in and around the basket, works well in tight spaces, shrugs off defenders while getting to the rim; aggressive defender who moves well while ball is in flight, quick first step when taking away lane from opponents looking to get to the basket.
Kamerin Poromon 5-foot-9 Sr. G Churchville-Chili (Monroe County Division II) – Smooth, left-handed playmaker who can distort a defense with shooting ability, a tireless performer; Poromon possesses a low center of gravity which he uses to create for teammates, routinely eludes defender off the dribble and he looks to pass first while drawing help side, sees tiny seams of passing lanes and understands the use of pace to create for teammates, gifted shooter with a quick release he can quickly get in rhythm and string together makes; patient and willing defender, he is tough to beat off the dribble, understands the value of dictating space rather than overplaying looking for the steal.
Tyler Williams 6-foot Jr. G Webster Thomas (Monroe County Division II) – Crafty ball handler with a deft shooting touch; impressive balance of his hands, can break down opposing defenses off the dribble, sees the floor well, makes intelligent decisions when going to the basket, looks to create for teammates first, has to be defended beyond the arc he will take advantage of a sagging defense to connect from long range; responsible defender, moves well on flight of the ball, understands his role as part of unit looking to limit open shots from opponents.
