Athena’s Rice named All-American

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Greece Athena junior midfielder Dylan Rice was named to the 2019 All-America team as announced by the United Soccer Coaches on Tuesday.

Rice is the first player in the history of the Athena boys’ soccer program to receive this honor.

He scored 20 goals and added 15 assists for the Trojans which won their fourth sectional title this decade and advanced to the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Class A final for the second time in six years.

Rice joins six other Section V boys’ performers to earn the honor this decade. Brighton’s Sam O’Connor was named to the 2018 All America team.

Peter Critchlow (Fairport ’16), Hunter Critchlow (Fairport’13), Sean Loucks (Webster Schroeder ’12), Anthony Rozzaro (Webster Schroeder ’11) and Brendan Bianchi (Spencerport ’11) have also received the honor in the past 10 years.
