Football Far West Regional Preview: Class D

A spot in the New York State semifinals is up for grabs when Section V and Section VI meet at the College at Brockport this upcoming weekend for the Football Far West Regionals. Here’s the breakdown:

CLYMER/SHERMAN/PANAMA WOLFPACK (8-1) vs. NOTRE DAME BATAVIA FIGHTING IRISH (10-0)

How they arrived here: Two-seeded Clymer/Sherman/Panama (No. 3 NYSSWA) opened sectionals with a 42-12 win over Randolph. The Wolfpack continued with a 22-0 shutout over top-seeded Franklinville/Ellicottville in the finals.

Notre Dame Batavia (No. 4 NYSSWA) downed No. 8 York/Pavilion, 26-0, in the quarterfinals before beating Bolivar-Richburg (52-6) and Alexander (14-7) to win their seventh sectional title in program history and first since 2012.

Notre Dame Batavia – Cody Henry So. RB, LB 75 tackles, 2 interceptions, 2 sack; Gabe Macdonald Jr. QB, RB, LB 972 rushing yards, 855 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, 56 tackles, 4 interceptions; Jedidiah Reese Sr. RB, LB 1,739 rushing yards, 23 touchdowns, 30 tackles, 2 interceptions; Mark Sanders, Jr. Jr. RB, WR, DB 436 receiving yards, 212 rushing yards, five touchdowns, 37 tackles, 4 interceptions

Coaches: Ty Harper (Clymer/Sherman/Panama), Joseph Zambito (Notre Dame Batavia)

What’s at stake: A spot in the NYS Class D semifinals against the winner of Frankfort-Schuyler (III) vs. Tioga (IV).

A 5 p.m. kickoff is scheduled Friday evening at the College at Brockport.
