Brighton Central Schools will host the 2019 Class A2 semifinals on Tuesday. A 5 PM kickoff is scheduled as top-seeded Sutherland looks to make it two straight against Honeoye Falls-Lima. Second-seeded Wayne hopes the experience from three straight trips to the semis pays off when it takes on Pittsford Mendon in the second game. Here’s the breakdown:
No. 1 seed PITTSFORD SUTHERLAND KNIGHTS (15-1-1/Monroe County Division III) vs. No. 4 seed HONEOYE FALLS-LIMA COUGARS (9-7-1/Monroe County Division IV)
How they got here: Pittsford Sutherland opened sectionals with a 9-nil win in the quarterfinals over No. 8 seed Midlakes/Red Jacket. Honeoye Falls-Lima (HF-L) outlasted Monroe County Division IV rival Eastridge in overtime, 2-1.

Last time they met: Will Bowen and Tyler Merrick netted a goal apiece as Sutherland downed HF-L 2-0, on October 5th. The win was part of the Knights 14-game unbeaten string to start the season.
Trends: Sutherland (No. 8 NYSSWA Class A) has won eight of nine. The Cougars are looking to put behind them a five-game stretch to end the regular season in which they dropped four games.

History 101: Then freshman Dylan Kladstrup scored a goal when Sutherland downed HF-L 2-0 in the 2017 Class A2 finals. That Knights squad advanced to the NYS Class semifinals. That loss snapped a three-year run atop A2 for the Cougars.

No. 2 seed WAYNE EAGLES (15-2-0/Finger Lakes East) vs. PITTSFORD MENDON VIKINGS (12-4-1/Monroe County Division III)
How they got here: Wayne edged seventh-seeded Aquinas, 1-0 in the quarterfinals. Mendon downed No. 6 seed East, 4-1.
