ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Ryan Collins fueled the Fairport engine. Batavia’s Garrick Havens posted a 13-point week. Zach Main split time between the field and in goal for Churchville-Chili, and Michael Tracey continued to shore up the Greece Athena backline. The four earned Player of the Week (October 7-13) honors for their respective divisions as announced by Monroe County earlier this week.
Collins collected a goal and an assist in a pair of Fairport (No. 13 NYSSWA Class AA) matches to earn Monroe County Division I Player of the Week (POTW). Collins started the scoring in the Red Raiders 3-1 win over divisional foe Rush-Henrietta. The senior midfielder assisted on Fairport’s lone tally in a setback at Greece Athena later in the week.
Main registered his sixth shutout of the season in Churchville-Chili’s 3-nil triumph over Irondequoit to earn DII POTW. The senior also shifted from the field to goal, playing the final 20 minutes as keeper in the Saints setback to Pittsford Sutherland (No. 3 NYSSWA Class A).
Earlier this season, Tracey made the switch from attacking midfielder to center back. Last week, the junior anchored a trio of Trojans wins and grabbed DIII honors. Tracey was in the middle for Athena’s 3-1 win over state-ranked Fairport. The black and gold followed that with wins over Aquinas (2-1) and Brighton (3-1). Athena (11-2-2) is unbeaten in its past nine games.
Havens finished with five goals and three assists to earn Division IV POTW. The senior midfielder netted a hat trick in the Blue Devils 3-2 victory over Dansville to open the week. He had a goal and an assist in a 4-nil win over Attica. Havens had an assist in Batavia’s loss to Greece Olympia and then closed the week with a goal and assist in 3-0 win over Pembroke.
