ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Mustafa Alshuaibi helped Gates-Chili to three wins. Brockport’s Cole Beardsley contributed offensively in all three matches. Michael Nesser led Fairport to an undefeated week, and Alex Wood collected eight points for Eastridge.The quartet earned Monroe County Player of the Week (September 23-29) for their respective divisions.
Alshuaibi contributed two goals and three assists to nab Division II Player of the Week (POTW) honors. The junior midfielder scored and added two helpers in the Spartans come-from-behind win over Eastridge. Trailing 3-1 early in the second half, Alshuaibi found the back of the net and then assisted on the next two goals to lift G-C to its first win of the season. Alshuaibi assisted on the Spartans only goal in a 1-nil overtime win against Canandaigua, and he tallied in Gates-Chili’s 2-1 win over Irondequoit.

Beardsley highlighted a three-goal week with the game winner in Brockport’s 1-nil win over Aquinas to grab DIII POTW. The junior midfielder also added a goal apiece in divisional matchups against Greece Athena and Pittsford Sutherland. Beardsley leads the Blue Devils with four markers on the season.

Nesser made six saves to earn DI POTW. The senior goalkeeper made three stops including a pair of late saves as the Red Raiders played to a 1-1 draw with divisional rival Penfield. Nesser followed that with three more saves in a 4-nil shoutout of Victor. The clean sheet was the sixth this season for the Red Raiders.
Wood scored two goals and had four assists for the DIV honors. The junior midfielder provided the equalizer late in the second half as Eastridge rallied to beat divisional foe Greece Olympia on Friday. Wood scored a goal in Eastridge’s win over Greece Odyssey on Wednesday and had two assists in Monday’s meeting with Gates-Chili.
