ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Thomas Gravino (Victor) collected his first varsity goals. Greg Ranieri played a pivotal role in helping the Spencerport Rangers continue their unbeaten string. Cooper LaValley continued to produce for Greece Arcadia, and Joe Gefell paced Batavia in a recent victory. The four earned Monroe County Players of the Week (September 16-22) as announced by the league.

Gravino, the Monroe County Division I Player of the Week (POTW), scored twice in Victor’s 3-0 win over previously undefeated Penfield. The freshman took advantage of a second-chance opportunity to get the Blue Devils on the scoreboard early in the first half. He connected 10 minutes later from 30 yards for the final count. Victor (4-3-1) travels to take on division rival Webster Schroeder, Monday night.

Ranieri collected three assists in a pair of Spencerport wins last week to earn Division II POTW. The senior forward assisted on one goal as the Rangers handed Webster Thomas its first loss of the season, 2-1. He contributed two more helpers in Spencerport’s 3-nil win over Fairport to end the week. Spencerport (6-1-0), winners of six straight, host Division II foe Irondequoit on Tuesday.

LaValley collected two more goals in a split week for Arcadia to grab Division III honors. The senior scored once in a 2-1 setback to Pittsford Sutherland (No. 5 NYSSWA Class A). He added the game winner in the Titans 3-o victory over Eastridge. The senior has nine markers on the season and is tied for the Monroe County lead among individual goal scorers. Arcadia (3-3-0) plays at Brighton on Wednesday.

Gefell found the back of the net three times during the first half of Batavia’s 8-1 win over Vertus Academy. He gave the Blue Devils a 2-nil advantage before tallying the fourth and fifth scores of the half. Batavia travels to play Honeoye Falls-Lima on Wednesday.
