IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. — Bre DeHond netted a pair of goals, and the Spencerport girls soccer team downed Irondequoit 5-0 in Monroe County Division II action, Wednesday night.
DeHond converted on a corner kick opportunity late in the first half. The sophomore forward then delivered early in the second.
“It was great to win that game,” she said. “We all worked really well together.”
Spencerport had a pair of scoring opportunities early in the first half but came away empty-handed. Corynna Rotoli got the Rangers on the board with the conversion of a penalty kick in the 24th minute.

DeHond scored seven minutes later.
“She’s done some nice things up top for us,” Spencerport head coach Jamie Schneider said of DeHond. “A good performance by her.”
Maddie Kessler got a head on the Maddie Tortora corner kick, and DeHond flicked it past Irondequoit keeper, Leah Memmott.

Spencerport showed no signs of complacency coming out of halftime with DeHond finding the back of the net less than two minutes into the second stanza. Erica Beaty put the game out of reach taking advantage of a second-chance opportunity in the 21st minute.

“At halftime the first thing is you always want is for them to play a complete game,” Schneider noted. “The adjustments that we made at halftime were in getting our back moving forward. We did well with that. We noticed a couple of things. We spread them out a little bit more and created opportunities. We were fortunate enough to finish them.”
Alyssa Hackett netted the final goal of the game.
The three-time defending sectional champs improved to 1-1 on the season.
“Obviously, we have a change of personnel, a couple big changes for us,” Schneider said referring to the graduations of former stars Erin Coykendall, Liv Wall and Leah Wengender. “We knew they were a good team and to get a result like this feels good.”
