Jon Boyce finished tied for third in Section V in double-doubles. The senior forward was named the 2018-19 Genesee Region Player of the Year as announced by the league.
Boyce recorded 17 double-doubles in 20 regular season games. The senior forward paced an Elba squad which averaged 59.5 points per game and allowed 51.7. Boyce was also selected for the Genesee Region Exceptional Senior All-Star Game.
Teammate Colton Dillon joined Boyce on the all-league team. Dillon tallied 13 double-doubles of his own, which were tied for the seventh-most in Section V. Boyce and Dillon led the Elba Lancers to a 15-5 record, the No. 2 seed in the Class D2 playoffs and a 70-30 victory in the quarterfinals over No. 7 Bradford.
Alexander’s Chris McClinic and Ryan Davis made the Genesee Region team. Davis scored 17 points per game while corralling 17 rebounds and blocking a pair of shots. The senior center had 19 double-doubles this season, which was tied for the most in Section V. McClinic scored 18.0 points, dished out 5.0 assists and swiped 3.0 steals. Davis and McClinic were selected for the Genesee Region Exceptional Senior All-Star Game.
Attica’s Dawson Nelson and Devon Henderson also earned all-league honors. Nelson averaged 13 points and 12 rebounds per game. The senior forward recorded 12 double-doubles this season, which were tied for eighth-most in Section V. Henderson scored 10.0 points per game while grabbing 6.0 rebounds. Henderson and Nelson led the Attica Blue Devils to 13 victories, including one over No. 4 Penn Yan in the quarterfinals of the Class B2 playoffs. The senior duo will be in the Genesee Region Exceptional Senior All-Star Game.
Lyndonville’s Nathan Dillenbeck and Zach Johnson received all-league spots. Dillenbeck and Johnson led the Tigers to a 17-3 record, the No. 2 seed in the Class C3 playoffs and an 83-61 win over No. 7 Harley-Allendale-Columbia in the quarterfinals. Teammate Nathan Poler will join Johnson in the Genesee Region Exceptional Senior All-Star Game.
Gabe Macdonald (Batavia-Notre Dame), Joey Burdick (Oakfield-Alabama), Jordan Ludwig (Pembroke) and Nathan Warters (Kendall) rounded out the Genesee Region All-League Team. Macdonald led the Fighting Irish to 11 wins and scored 27 points in an 85-45 victory over Hammondsport in the first round of the Class D1 playoffs. Burdick assisted the Hornets in reaching 11 victories and a 61-37 first-round win against Wheatland-Chili in the Class C3 playoffs. Ludwig led the Dragons to 10 wins and a 52-38 first-round victory over Byron-Bergen.
Alexander’s Wayne Hanley was named Coach of the Year. Hanley led the Trojans to a 16-4 record, the No. 2 seed in the Class C2 playoffs and a 62-55 quarterfinals win over No. 7 Geneseo.
