ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Dyllon Scott and Zechariah Harris-Scott combined to score all eight of East’s points in the second overtime as the Eagles took down RCAC rival Leadership Academy, 68-61 Section V Class A2 quarterfinal action, Saturday.
Tied at 60 apiece to start the second overtime period, Harris-Scott grabbed an offensive rebound and finished a putback layup.

After a missed Leadership Lions’ field goal, Scott made a floater down to the lane to give the East Eagles a 64-60 edge, their largest of the game.

Scott knocked down four free throws in the last 1:05 of the period to secure the victory. In the second overtime, the Eagles held the Lions to five missed field goals and two turnovers in eight possessions.
Scott netted 15 of his game-high 21 points in the second half as the Eagles outscored the Lions, 46-27.
“He had some nice kick-outs,” East head coach Darrell Barley said about his junior forward. “He had some nice rebounds, big-time free throws. He’s just a guy who’s very steady.”
Harris-Scott had all 20 of his points after the first quarter in which the Eagles trailed, 16-14. The junior forward scored 12 points in the fourth period and overtimes combined.
“Our defensive intensity, rebounding, going inside to Zach was the key to this win,” Barley explained.

Senior guard Chaz Washington netted 10 of his 18 in the first half.

Maurice Coney (7) rounded out the scoring for the Eagles. Trailing 44-29 near the end of the third quarter, the Eagles ignited for a 20-2 run to take a 49-46 lead with 4:33 remaining in the fourth period. Scott and Harris-Scott led the charge with 13 points combined. Coney contributed four and Washington chipped in three. During the surge, the Eagles forced the Lions into seven turnovers and three missed field goals in 12 possessions.
“We threw a couple of different things at them,” Barley explained. “The zone wasn’t working. They (Leadership) were knocking down threes. We went man-to-man.”

The Eagles defeated the Lions for the third time this season and avenged last year’s sectional loss.
For Leadership, sophomore guard Maurice McKinney scored 13 of his team-high 20 points in the second half.

Senior guard Rondell Watson netted 10 of his 13 in the first half in which the Lions surged out to a 34-22 lead going into the locker room. Junior Shamir McCullough contributed 10 points.

East will play Wayne in the semifinals on Wednesday. The Wayne Eagles defeated Monroe, 55-50, in the quarterfinals Saturday night.
