“This was a good opportunity for us to get a couple of our role players off the bench,” Edison Tech head coach Jack Palmeri said. “I had her playing with role players, those kids who we’re going to need off the bench in big moments. She tends to make anybody around her better. It was a good opportunity for the second team to work with her as well.”
The win was Edison’s third this season over Wilson. The Inventors will face another familiar foe in the AA quarterfinals.
“We’ve played both of those teams this year,” Palmeri said when asked about Gates-Chili and Hilton who meet Saturday to advance to the quarterfinals. “They played us tough in the first half. Both of them played us tough. Hilton right now is on a streak. They gave Penfield a good match. It should be interesting to see who comes out of that. Gates has always given us a problem. This is the first we’ve played and beaten Hilton in a long time.”
Edison beat Hilton, 58-40 on January 2nd and Gates, 75-66 on January 28th.
Rhoinda Thomas scored nine points for Edison. Destiny Smith had eight. Shamaria Burrows (6) and Jonteria Wright (5) also scored for Edison.
