ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Gerald Drumgoole will make his third official college visit at the University of Pittsburgh (Atlantic Coast Conference) from February 9-11th. The former Irondequoit Eagle hopes to make his college commitment prior to the NCAA’s signing period which begins on April 17th.
“It’s definitely fun,” Drumgoole said Thursday by phone. “I’m just enjoying the process while it lasts. It’s definitely overbearing, though, when you have a lot of college coaches calling you throughout the whole day.”
Having already visited the University of Minnesota (Big Ten) and University of South Carolina (Southeastern Conference), Drumgoole will also consider scholarship offers from University of Connecticut (American Athletic), Creighton University (Big East), Georgetown University (Big East), University of Georgia (Southeastern Conference), University of Miami (Atlantic Coast Conference), Northwestern University (Big Ten), University of Oregon (Pac 12) and Rutgers University (Big Ten) and Seton Hall University (Big East).
“I’m pretty sure I’m going to go early. It’s probably going to be mid to late March,” Drumgoole said.
Currently playing at La Lumiere (No. 1 USA Today Super 25), Drumgoole led Irondequoit to back-to-back Section V Class A1 titles in 2017 and 2018. As a sophomore, the 6-foot-5 guard averaged 13.7 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists for the eventual NYSPHSAA Class A champions. He scored 21.6 points a year ago for an Irondequoit squad which repeated as NYS Far West Regional champions before falling in the state semifinals.

“I’m just thankful that the game has taken me to a whole other level,” he stated.
During his time at Irondequoit, Drumgoole progressed from being a catch-and-shoot guy from long range to being to create his own shot. He sets himself apart from others with his ability to pull-up in transition. He possesses the ability to take over a game and simultaneously allow the play to come to him. An active rebounder with strong hands, Drumgoole does not stop at first contact, he requires the attention of opponents throughout the duration of rebounding situations. He is an above average defender who plays well off the ball and can see the game one pass ahead, moves well on the flight of the ball.
Drumgoole also has an offer from DePaul University which is contingent upon whether he visits the school in Chicago or not. Originally, he had an offer from the University of Maryland. That scholarship was later withdrawn when another student-athlete took advantage of the early-signing period.
At La Lumiere, Drumgoole plays alongside fellow Section V alum, Isaiah Stewart (McQuaid Jesuit) who recently committed to play at the University of Washington.
